When I was pregnant with Braden, he was one of the pregnancies that I had over the holiday season. And all I asked for that Christmas was things for the baby. And I hung a stocking for the baby. He was due in April (born in February), so we knew he was a boy. And that Christmas we announced his name by signing Christmas gifts to family with all of our names including the new baby brother to be. So what are some good things that fit in a stocking for a baby? Or a baby still enjoying the warmth of mummy’s tummy? Here are some of my favourites that we have in stock at Nappy Shoppe.
Haba Clutching Toys – These are great wooden toys for baby to clutch. This is a great toy for them from the time they can grasp. Bright and colourful they are hard to resist. Many of them are made in Germany too! These are such cute toys we had to move them away from the register as the staff kept wanting to play with them! HABA designs toys with newborn baby development in mind. Their bright and attractive toys help newborns improve motor function, support them when they start to teethe and toys that encourage them to crawl and scoot.
Amber Necklaces – This is our number one recommendation for teething babies (great for adult pain like headaches and joint pain too). Amber when it is warmed up against the skin releases Succinic acid. It is also known as Amber acid. It is a natural analgesic that helps relieve pain. I was skeptical when I first heard this, but when I was suffering from bad headaches in early 2012, I broke down and put on a necklace. When the headaches eased, I was convinced. I really notice that amber works when I forget to put it back on and my headaches return. One of these in the stocking won’t take up a lot of room. Please note we stock a lot more amber in our store than we show on line. The amber we have varies a lot as it is a natural item, and it is difficult to show case online.
Carrier Drool Pads – These will fit in the stocking perfectly. We have much more choice in store than online. These simple little pads do much more than dress up your carrier, they protect your carrier from the acidic affects of drool. They also mean instead of having to wash your whole carrier every time you get spit up and drool on the straps, you just wash the drool pads. The first thing most babies do when they get in a carrier, is chomp down on the straps. The drool pads are far more comfortable to chomp down on. Not only do we stock ones made by the various brands of carrier, but we also have our own that we make from fun fabrics.
Wabbanub Pacifiers – These cute pacifiers come with a toy attached. They are made with the Soothie brand pacifier, that many hospitals country wide give out as baby’s first pacifier. The plush toy makes it easy to find the pacifier, and easy for baby to grasp. With several different plush toy options, it makes it fun to collect each different kind.
Guavamitts & Guavaboots – These ingenious mittens and boots are designed to STAY ON. I don’t know how many times I lost a mitten or a sock on my baby. When I was going through and donating, I found I had a lot of odd socks and mittens. These booties and mittens have hook and loop closures, that allow for the mitten and bootie to stay firmly in place. Made from a super soft bamboo fabric, they are wonderful against baby’s delicate skin.
So these are just a few of the items that would make great stocking stuffers. We have much more on our website and in store.
